Cabinetry: rift-sawn solid white oak with holly pulls

Slab table: valley oak grown in Berkeley hills California

This project was conceptualized in collaboration with the architecture and design firm i/Thee in Oakland California. The home itself was undergoing a full remodel, and the ground floor was redesigned as a modern, Japanese inspired concept.

Using simple, traditional joinery techniques on the cabinetry not only creates an elegant feel, but also increases its lifespan greatly.

Rift sawn white oak is used on all the cabinetry of this unit. It has clean, straight lines running throughout its grain pattern.

The ivory colored handles are actually made of holly, which is a rarely found hardwood that is bright white naturally.

The book matched slab table is made of two sequentially cut valley oak slabs from a tree that actually grew a few miles from where this home was located.
